Mirroring ensures availability of current server data
With the move to client-server and web-based computing
came a major increase in the amount of data being accessed
by users. Un-interrupted availability of this data is
critical to profitable operations. LinkPro's IPReplicator®,
based on unique Real-time Replication technology, enables
2-way real-time directory and file mirroring between
servers. This means that servers running the same applications
can maintain synchronization of that data within seconds,
not hours as is the case with other products.
IPReplicator®
provides scalable, secure & automated data movement
over LANs, WANs, & Internet while minimizing &
controlling bandwidth use, even thru firewalls. The
following applies to 2-way replication of flat files
such a those from MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, html,
asp, jpg etc. It does not apply to the replication of
operating system files or open and locked database files.
Real-time
Mirroring Solution - LAN Connection

In this configuration, two active
servers are operating on the same LAN with IPReplicator
agents installed on each server.
A Replication
set is created on Server A to replicate its data directory
to Server B's identical data directory. Likewise, a
Replication set is created on Server B to replicate
its data directory back to Server A's data directory.
With this setup, each time a file is updated on either
server it is immediately replicated to the other server
maintaining data synchronization, usually within seconds.
This is especially useful in those cases where the servers
are sharing the user access load on the network.
A major benefit
here is the redundancy of the servers. If one server
goes down, the remaining server can service the user
base until the other server is restored to operation.
When the down server is again in operation, its data
can be restored from the server that has been active
by performing replication to restored down server. Thus
both server's data are brought back into synchronization.
Real-time
Mirroring Solution - WAN Connection
Continuous
2-Way Real-time Mirroring of application data that resides
on two active production servers located on different
LANs connected by a WAN:
In this configuration,
two active servers are operating on different LANs connected
by a WAN. A Replication set is created on West
Coast Server to replicate its data directory to East
Coast Server's identical data directory. Likewise, a
Replication set is created on East Coast Server to replicate
its data directory back to West Coast Server's data
directory. Thus each time a file is updated on either
server it is immediately replicated to the other server
maintaining data synchronization, usually within seconds.
This maintains consistent synchronized data between
the two offices as their servers service their local
users.
If one server
goes down, the remaining server can service the user
base until the other server is restored to operation.
When the down server is again in operation, its data
can be restored from the server that has been active
by performing replication to restored down server. Thus
both server's data are brought back into synchronization.
Replication
and Mirroring Software for the Enterprise
Efficient
implementations of 2-way mirroring requires File Replication
and Mirroring software that is able to provide automatic
directory and file replication. It must support bi-directional
real-time replication between servers over LANs, WANs,
VPNs or the Internet. It should run as a service, mirroring
data between servers and restoring data to a server
that has been down. LinkPro's IPReplicator
software satisfies these key requirements by providing:
- Continuous 2-way disk to disk mirroring with quick
re-synchronization
- Publishing and mirroring
of directories and files
- Efficient and secure
network usage
- Central administration
for easy setup, monitoring and control
- Runs on Windows NT, 2000
& 2003 connected via TCP/IP
